193. Boston Common

August 18, 2012

Boston is a popular American destination for a variety of reasons. It has something for everyone ranging from history, culture, academia and adventure. My plan to visit Boston stemmed from my enrollment in a professionals development program at Harvard University.

We decided to make a holiday out of it since my father is visiting from India on his first trans Atlantic trip. There is a lot to do in Boston but the key elements that give one a glimpse of the city are the Duck Tours and the Freedom Trail – both are must dos and the latter is free. It is also the land of one of America’s better known Presidents and houses the JFK Memorial Presidential Library and Museum.

Sea food is plenty given its access to the sea and two must visit places are an outlet of Legal Sea Foods and the historic Union Oyster House (America’s oldest restaurant). The regular parks and museums are one of the best but are a staple in every American city. I will write a separate blog about Cambridge and Harvard in particular.
