274. What the next Pope should be like?
Hats off to Pope Benedict for taking the decision to resign. Something none of his predecessors in the last 600 or more years have done. It takes courage and it takes grace to do so.
As all eyes are on the Vatican during the season of Lent there is a desire among the Catholic laity across the world to be led by a dynamic, courageous, charismatic and pious person. Over 50 % of the Catholics were born in the 80s and 90s during the time of Pope John Paul II. It is time now for the Catholic Church to offer the world a leader who is tune with the times.
A non-European and preferably non-White Pope perhaps from Asia or Africa would be a welcome change, if not a Latin american. A Pope in his late 50s or early 60s would be an inspiration as the the world has seen a very old Pope for the last two decades . The last 13 years of the previous Pope and the 7 of the one who has just resigned.
Is that asking for too much?
