247. Beautiful condolence meeting for Dan
At 1155 am on 15th Jan the staff at Edelman Chicago gathered at the board room on the 63rd floor of the Aon Center to pay tribute to Dan and listen to son Richard say a few words about his father. Richard was there five hours after his father passed away. Cool and composed with his other siblings.
The beauty lay in the way he spoke about his dad bringing out humorous moments in the life of the legend. He brought a smile to everyone’s face and created a room full of laughter. That’s the power of celebrating a life well lived.
I would have been happy if Dan lived to be 100 but the good part was he lived to see his company started with four people 60 years ago in a tiny office at the merchandise Mart Plaza turn 60 in October with 66 offices world wide and over 4500 employees. The book on his life and the history of the profession was published in his lifetime and was placed on our desks this morning as per the original plan. And the great thing in Richard’s words was that Dan and Ruth were married to each other for 59 years which in itself is an inspiration.
