132. The Associate Learning Program odyssey

February 27, 2012

Eight years ago, on March 1st (2004) genesis public relations (now Genesis BM) created a first-of-its-kind program to give the Public Relations business true blooded professionals.  I was fortunate to be one of the 13 handpicked from a bunch of post graduate institutes. This blog is to document this initiative and update what each one is up to currently.

This is a tribute to Prema Sagar and Ashwani Singla who had the foresight way back in 2004 to launch an Associate Learning Program – the first of its kind in the business of Public Relations. A thank you to Sheila Singla – for being the first mentor of the ALP trainees. This is also to place on record the various managing partners and partner associates (genesis term for account directors) who supported the 13 of us in the first couple of months (Senjam Rajsekhar, Nikhil Dey, Sheena Sharma, Deepshikha Dharmaraj, Sabiana Anandaraj, Anurag Mehrotra, Kavita Rao, Sandip Dahiya, Rajesh Dube, Kanak Pillai among several others)

A salutation to Bodhisatya Basuthakur (BM Shanghai), Chitrangada Maitra (Airfoil PR San Francisco), Moksh Juneja (Avignyata Mumbai), Ishita Mookherjee (Hungama Mumbai) , Madhavi Behl (Standard Chartered Mumbai), Archana Mohan (Dell Bangalore) , Greishma Singh (Coca Cola Sydney), Priyadarshini Kaul (Eulogy Bangalore), Preeti Dhawan (RocSearch New Delhi), Meghana Kapur (Yo China Gurgaon), Neha Arora (Yellow Cycle Bangalore) and  Vidya Sawhny (HP San Jose) for being the first set of PR practitioners to sign a 3 year contract. Most of the 13 completed three years and more with the firm in India.

Just read your post paying homage to the Associate Learning Program. Must say that this has been my best decision to join the program (ofcourse only after consultation with you). But being a Marketing post graduate with no formal knowlegde and experience of PR, this program provided the platform for building a solid foundation teaching the knowhow and tricks of the trade. Now when I think of it 3 years was very short time to have invested and learned immensely from the program.
